Pregnancy can be an amazing journey, but can also involve emotional and physical challenges along the way.

Massage can help with some of the associated stresses and strains of pregnancy and can also be some essential ‘down time’.

Pregnancy Massage is intended be relaxing but also with ‘purpose’ in terms of addressing any issues. Kineseotaping skills can also be used to provide support as pregnancy progresses and also to support common conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome etc.

For many women post birth, so much attention is focused on the new baby that the healing needs of the new Mum can be overlooked. Post-natal massage supports this process by providing a quiet window for soothing, nurturing and restorative therapy.

Our principle aim is restoration and key areas of focus can include:

  • Easing tension in the neck and shoulders from feeding and holding baby

  • Promoting the restoration of core function by encouraging the soft tissues to return to their pre-pregnancy position.

  • Releasing the tensions in the hips and lower back that are holding the body in its “pregnant” posture allowing your normal posture to return.

If you have birthed via c-section, please consider booking in for a scar therapy session as per below to ensure I can support you in the best way possible.

Scars may look “fine” but it’s the things we can’t see that may affect how you feel and move.

After any surgery or trauma to tissue; the healing process begins when collagen fibres are laid down to create powerful healing bonds that aid recovery but can also lead to the formation of adhesions.  These adhesions can then create dysfunction as their strong structures can bind to nearby organs and tissues within the pelvic cavity/ around the site of the wound. This can then cause that pulling, trapped or dragging sensation that some ladies experience around the scar when performing certain movement or activities. Pelvic organ dysfunction, incontinence, scar pain, back pain, poor sensation/numbness and a sense of restriction after abdominal surgery can also be the result.

During soft tissue therapy appointments, the focus will be on restoring your breath to improve your whole core function; massage to support your soft tissues in returning to a pain free and more optimal position; specific scar work; and pelvic floor and core rehab.

What to expect:

  • Upon booking you will receive a link to a detailed pre-screening health questionnaire which gives me a much better idea of what is happening for you.

  • We will use hands on therapy to work on your abdominals, breathing accessory muscles, the scar (if appropriate) and surrounding area, and work more globally on other areas that are restricted. (It’s ALL connected).

  • Follow on sessions may involve creating a rehab movement programme for you so please just wear comfortable unrestricting clothes for that part of the session. We always work in barefoot so please do not worry about shoe choice.

  • You will be given bespoke homework to complete between treatments and I will be in contact with you during this time to support you on your journey back to health and more importantly, functionality.
